FAQs
What can I expect from an event?
Events are structured, supportive environments for dedicated work time. Expect to be in an online space with others working on academic projects like theses, proposals, and dissertations. Everyone will have different specific goals, but all will be there to make progress on their projects. A facilitator will guide everything and be available throughout the event to answer any questions. The majority of every event is dedicated to providing you with optimal work time.
What is the schedule?
Attendees will receive a detailed schedule upon registration, but most events follow a similar format. They start with introductions and a detailed, task-based goal-setting activity to focus your day. Then, structured work blocks and short breaks—an adaptation of the Pomodoro Method—fill the rest of the event. A lunch activity and end-of-event reflection for next steps are also integrated to help develop sustainable habits that you can utilize outside of events.
Do I need to prepare anything beforehand? Can I work on anything during the event?
Usually, the hardest part of any long-form academic project is the drafting process, so we encourage you to complete as much reading, organizing, and outlining as possible ahead of time to dedicate the day to drafting. That being said, the time can be used to work on anything that moves your project forward. Prepare your materials, your work space, and even your drinks, snacks, and lunch ahead of time. Hide your phone (during work blocks at least).
If I want one-on-one coaching, editing, or feedback, do you provide that?
We recommend a few amazing professionals. Learn more HERE.
Can I get a refund if I don’t end up attending?
Our refund policy allows cancellations up to 48 hours before the event start time. Any cancellations less than 48 hours before the event start time or no-shows to the event are not eligible for refunds. We do this to be able to plan accurately to create the best possible experience for all attendees.
Can I leave an event early?
Yes, if you need to, you can leave early.
Is there a lunch break?
There is a lunch break during every event longer than 4 hours. We recommend having something ready to prepare quickly before you begin your day.
If I’m late, can I still attend?
Yes, if you arrive late, please check in with the facilitator.
